I’ve always had a passion for African fashion especially one made with Ankara fabric. My mom was a seamstress by trade and a businesswoman at heart. Some of my fondest memories were seeing her on her sewing machine doing what she loved to do. When she passed away unexpectedly my sisters and I tried to figure out the best way to honor her life and keep her legacy going. One day I was looking for an African outfit being that I live far from my home country my options were limited. The ones that I could find were either too expensive, poor quality or not easily accessible.
Frustrated, I began to think of an easier way other Africans in the diaspora, such as myself, could access high quality customized African fashion at an affordable price. Just then a light bulb went off. I couldn’t think of a better way to honor our mom than to combine all her passions in one: Fashion, business and empowering women. I hired local seamstresses, all of whom are hardworking mothers, to help bring my vision to life.
